Small Pima basket bowl
A sweet little basket that could be made by an Akimel O’odham (Pima) or Tohono O’odham (Papago) artist in southern Arizona. With a tightly coiled start rather than the more typical plaited start of the Papago baskets but then again, the start is of natural yucca (more Papago) rather than the dark devil’s claw start of most Pima baskets. Not new, I’m guessing at about 1970s. About 1 3/8″ deep x 4 3/8″ wide, in excellent, lightly used condition.
