Egyptian Revival silver, enamel and cut glass box
An elegant cut crystal jar or dresser box with an enameled silver collar and lid. The lid of the box is enameled with the image of Horus (the hawk headed god) seated on a throne. The inside of the lid is marked “800.” The box measures approximately 1 3/4″ wide x 1 1/8″ tall. I am not sure where this was made but the 800 silver indicates somewhere in Europe. The piece is visually in very good antique condition. With examination under a loupe, there are multiple extremely tiny chips in the glass. I can feel a few with a fingernail but most I cannot see. With the loupe, I saw a few small areas of damage to the enamel as well. Really not obvious. So, it’s not perfect but still beautiful.
